Introduction SEO tools do provide a huge detailed analysis of the keyword and suggest changes which might lead to better results. A few of the famous SEO tools include Google Keyword Analysis, Traffic Travis, SEOMOZ, SEO Elite, and many others. These tools, if used effectively, do provide an edge-to-edge analysis of the article and a comparison with top-ranking articles which will, in turn, give a great insight into the changes needed for the article in question. SEOs over the years have improved their software and tools to enable better analysis, better research approach, and quality results to the web content. In order to understand how successful a given content has been based on the modern-day SEO, one needs to compare it with the modern-day top-ranking articles with some set of defined parameters. This itself will give a detailed insight as to where the article stands and what needs to be done to get to a certain level. In order to understand this, one needs to have a detailed analysis of the keywords used, the content, the look and feel of the article, the popularity of the article, the traffic driven to the article, and the relevance of one article over the other. This constitutes a few reasons why the article might have climbed up the ladder to the top slot. This intriguing behavior led to the birth and development of SEOs and SEO tools. Step into each field and you'd see the importance of SEO and how it has affected the overall globalization of the internet world. In the modern era of search engines, SEOs play a vital role in understanding the working of keyword search. Yet, everyone has been persistent in knowing the reasons, as to why the ranking of the article might have shot to number 1 or 2 and eventually falling down the order. Ever imagined searching for a term on Google and it popping up numerous irrelevant content all leading to haywire? Has it ever struck your mind, what leads to a sudden hike of that somewhat "not so good" article and jeopardizing the one that would have been of great help to you? 1.1 Importance of SEO tools SEO tools can do this very effectively and very efficiently as they have tools for keyword targeting, on-page optimization and comparison with top 10 competitors across some specific targeted keywords and phrases. Now before we think about how we can manipulate the search engine result, we must be sure of what kind of result we are expecting. This is a decision of the website owner but often people want to maximize money in the shortest time, this can be promotion of an event or function, an affiliate trying to sell a product or trying to get some cash from an online source. SEO tools can prove to be extremely handy in such cases and the customer can yield maximal output with minimal input. Coming back to the comparison of competitors, we must understand that any product or service has some monetary value and when there are people selling and buying the same thing, what stands different is the presentation and the way that allows a certain type of result favoring one of the contenders. In recent times, this longing to be at the top has created cut throat competition. SEO tools can determine a result using some defined metrics and certain quantitative measurements where customers can understand where their competitors are going wrong or are simply encountering a result which is not feasible. Now any wrong doing can be rectified but there has to be enough conviction to convince someone to get the job done right next time taking longer in the process and hence providing a good potential for the customer. Parameters which have been defined till now are met by the standard SEO tools which are available in the market today. SEO tools have become an integral part of the life of an online marketer and website developer. These free tools have taken a vital role in deciding the success of a website. From its early sown initiation and still now, SEO has been committed in providing the only best efforts to its customers. These customers can be anyone who approaches SEO for a good search engine result; this might be an online marketer, an affiliate or for sheer website promotion. All these activities are solely dependent on the kind of results that a website gets and a customary practice these days is to have a website which gives some money in return. So it is very important to move along with the pace and try to adopt different techniques whereby there is maximization of money but at a minimal time. Any technique can be applied but the most evident and cost effective way is to try and manipulate a search engine result to be in the favor of the website which is attempting to seek the result. Now how is that possible is a big question but a little common sense and right approach to the problem with conviction will yield results. 1.2 Benefits of using free tools The obvious benefit of free SEO tools is that you do not have to pay anything. The free tools are usually provided as a teaser for more advanced software. Often times you can carry out quality SEO on a website with just the free tools alone. Depending on your goals and the types of websites you are trying to promote, these free tools may be an ideal solution. You can gauge how effective the tools are by using them for a short period of time and determining if the extra features are worth paying for. This can be a cost-effective way to gradually learn SEO. Search engine optimization (SEO) has become an important aspect for businesses who want to promote their websites and grow their customer base. With the rise of the internet and the growing number of web businesses, the need to get noticed for your specific niche has become crucial if you want to be a contender in your field. There are many SEO tools available on the internet that can help you reach your goals. For the casual website promoter, the idea of paying excessive amounts of money for SEO software may not be the best solution. In this article, I will discuss the benefits of using free SEO tools. 2. On-Page Optimization Tools In addition to the above features, IBP comes with a money-back guarantee in case it does not get your website in the top 10 search engine rankings. This is a great offer and it shows how confident they are that this product will help your site get to where you want it. A new feature of this tool is that it now has a top 10 optimizer tool that will compare your page to the top 10 ranked websites for a specific keyword and it will tell you exactly what you need to change. This can save a lot of time and effort when trying to achieve optimized pages for a specific keyword. Another great feature is the search engine submitter tool. This tool submits your site to one hundred search engines. This is not only time-effective but it is also the easiest and cheapest way to do this task. One of the most popular on-page SEO optimization tools is IBP (short for Internet Business Promoter). This tool's website says, "Internet Business Promoter (IBP) is a multi-award winning search engine optimization software tool that helps you get high search engine rankings." This software application is used to perform site factor analysis of the top 10 website factors. IBP includes a twelve-step on-page optimization process for each page on your site. This is very convenient and no guessing is involved because IBP tells you exactly what you need to do. 2.1 Keyword research tools Google Adwords Keyword Tool The Google Adwords Keyword Tool provides a list of related keywords to a keyword that the user enters. The relevance of keywords is rated in a percentage format. The higher the percentage, the more relevant the keywords are. An added feature of this tool is that it suggests keyword ideas when the user enters a URL. This tool is useful for finding more specific keywords and phrases that come under a broader keyword topic. Overture suggestion tool The Overture suggestion tool is a very simple tool that uses a database of Overture search term statistics. It is the only tool that is based on a major PPC search engine, which is part of Yahoo. It serves two main purposes: * Suggestive function: when a user enters a keyword, it provides a list of the most relevant related keywords according to Overture's database. * Comparative function: the user can compare the search volume of one keyword with another, which is a useful way of choosing the most relevant keywords to use. Wordtracker Keywords for each page are generated by Wordtracker. It is accomplished by entering keywords into a search box. After submitting, the keywords are based on the database and a list of keywords for a page is produced. One of Wordtracker's strong features is that the results are based on a real search engine used by a real audience. 2.2 Content analysis tools SEObook.com's tool is a free Firefox plug-in which analyzes pages in a similar way to the previously mentioned SEOtools. It provides both on-site and off-site analysis, the latter being data which it pulls from Yahoo! Site Explorer to tell you your website's inbound links. Though an alternative from the same site, [Link], is much more user-friendly, it does not offer the same level of detail. This plug-in has the added features of allowing you to highlight no-follow links, which you can disable, and hidden text which may be used by competitors. By far the best feature of this tool is that it provides an analysis of Google search results to compare the ranking of your meta tags with the rest of those sites in the results. Another tool, although not free, with a bit of a different twist is [Link] This tool analyzes the semantics of the keyword targeted by your page and compares it to the content on your site. This analysis is particularly useful as today, the internet is the primary resource for information, decision making, and purchasing. Imagine having a search engine return different results when you type in a keyword. The results of this tool can be used to give plea to any clients that have a disregard for current content and want a keyword-targeted page on that topic. Content analysis tools are used to check the content on a website for keyword density, relevancy, and other factors such as reading level. Often, the content is written without much thought for keyword density. Usually, content is written and then a web page is built around that content. Content analysis tools will read the content on the website and then tell you if the keyword density is good and if the right keywords are present. Writing content around a keyword can increase undue keyword density. An example is when a user writes content with no keyword in mind. This can often lead to low keyword density as the content will have no target. In this case, it would be ideal for the user to modify the existing content so that it has the right keywords. 2.3 Meta tag optimization tools A meta tag is a tag (that is, a coding statement) in the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) that describes some aspect of the contents of a web page. The information that you provide in a meta tag is used by search engines to index a page so that someone searching for the kind of information the page contains will be able to find it. Well-constructed meta tags will appeal to the searcher's reason and also are more likely to show up in the search engine results. This means the pages using meta tags effectively have more chance of being clicked on by the searcher for more information from the search engine results page and hence, these pages will receive more traffic. The traffic may come directly from the search engines or indirectly from other sites which have linked to your site. This free tool started with the SEO Tool Set and is now available as a stand-alone. It checks the children of the title and the meta tags for truncated or unconvincing content. In other words, are you making the most of the pixels allowed where it counts? The program will list the tags and show how they will appear in search engine results pages. This is a great tool for fine-tuning your meta tags and it is amazing how small changes can make a big difference when fine-tuning your click through rate from the search engine results pages. This free tool checks your meta tags and your body content to check that they are relevant to the keywords specified by you and your pages are not using any spammy tactics. Very useful to check that you are actually on the right track. Other similar tools are offered by seobook and iwebtool. 3. Off-Page Optimization Tools Followerwonk is a free tool developed by Moz that gives you data on Twitter users and the interaction of these users with specific keywords. The tool breaks down Twitter analytics into three different sections. The first section allows you to search for Twitter users by keyword in their bio. This is useful to find influential Twitter users to connect with if you are doing blogger outreach. The second section is a comparison of Twitter users. The third section is an analysis of various data about Twitter users' followers. This tool is great for anyone looking to increase their social media presence and to better understand how their Twitter community interacts with specific keywords. This tool is completely free to use. Open Site Explorer is a tool developed by Moz that gives you extensive data on your link profile. The tool has two separate link indexes: the basic one is free to everyone, and the premium index is used in SEOmoz Pro. The free version provides a ton of data. You can see the most recent links to your site and your most recent linking URLs. The tool will show you which links are directing the most link juice to your site and the anchor text used by the linking site to link to your website. Open Site Explorer allows you to compare your link profile with three competitors at one time. You can see their most valuable links and identify the tactics they are using to rank above you. The free version of this tool has limitations of three reports per day. But the information you can pull will be invaluable to your link building efforts. 3.1 Backlink analysis tools SEOMoz, which is a very powerful SEO tool and collection of utilities, has some great tools for link analysis. These range from the free tool which shows you some very basic data to the premium tool which gives you a lot of detail with regards to where your links are coming from and much more. The SEOMoz free tool will only show you the top 10 links to your site. The paid tool will show you details such as the domain authority of each linking page and a lot more. This is great for any webmaster who is looking to build quality links. Chances are most webmasters will want to stick with the free tool but they still offer great information. Yahoo! Site Explorer is the simplest tool from the ones which have been compared. It is a great tool to see the backlinks for a competitor allowing you to replicate their links and watch your link building efforts. For any new site this should probably be the first place to check to see the number of backlinks you have. Yahoo! Site Explorer is also great for spying on your competitors and seeing which links are holding the most weight. An added bonus of this tool is that it is free. 3.2 Social media monitoring tools There are two tools that are excellent for social media monitoring. The first being Buzzsumo, which allows the user to search for a topic or a website and find the content that has done the best in terms of social media success. It can also be used to find key influencers who have shared the content. This is useful to any SEO as it can help determine any potential links from influencers to their website, or getting the shared person to also share the link. The second tool is Link Intersect from Moz. This compares the backlinks that up to 5 websites have in common. This is very helpful for off-page SEO. For example, if a website has a competitor in mind, they would enter their competitor's websites and see what backlinks the competitor's website has obtained. If there are any that are relevant to the user's website, they can then generate similar content in hopes to also gain a backlink from the already proven successful sites. A key opportunity that may have been unnoticeable to the user without this tool. Social media is becoming an increasingly important factor in search engine optimization. Social signals have emerged as ranking factors as search engines determine the importance of a website. It is a good way to obtain backlinks to the website's content, as social sharing generates links which in turn build the authority of that page. It is also a great way to engage with potential customers. Monitoring social media is the key to success as this can determine the type of content that is needed to be shared, the influencer who can help build the link, and the people who can be targeted for the links. One of the best ways to improve your website's SEO is to get other website owners to link to your website. These backlinks are from publishers who think your website has content worth linking to. With this, SEOs can compare the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of backlinks between the website and its competitors. 3.3 Competitor analysis tools - SEMRush is a favorite SEO tool of mine. I am surprised when I talk to people who have heard of it but don't use it. I think it is the best tool on the market for competitor analysis. It enables you to check the organic keywords that your site and any other site is ranking for in the organic search results. You can then see a report of the keywords and the traffic that your site and the other site received. You can then compare this data over various time frames. This is useful if you make changes to your site and want to see the effect it has had on the traffic or see if a competitor has suddenly gained rankings on certain keywords. SEMRush also allows you to check the CPC data of the keywords. This is useful if you are running an AdWords campaign and want to know if there are any high traffic low competition keywords that you may be missing. Competitor analysis is a key part of a successful SEO campaign. These tools help you find out what keywords your competitors are ranking for in the organic search results and how much traffic it is worth to try and rank for those keywords. It will also enable you to see what sites are linking to your competitors and what anchor text those links are using. This gives you a clear picture of what your competitors are doing with their on-page and off-page optimization. Some of the best tools to pack a competitive punch are: 3.4 Local SEO tools Imad Bouchallou I've recently seen one of Imad's blog posts on his personal blog regarding a tool for checking the strength of your NAP data. I haven't got my hands on it yet, but he reported great things in his post! Google 'Ziggy' Finder Greg Gifford reported that Google was testing this automated management tool late in 2014. At launch, Gifford states that it will assist with the management of local listings, including NAP data. This is rumored to be a way of managing local listings from within the AdWords dashboard. Unfortunately, this tool has not yet launched and therefore we do not have a URL for it. Schema Creator It is always a major benefit to add microdata to your site in order to improve your site's appearance in SERPs. This free tool will help you create and test schema for your local business page. LocalVisibilitySystem.com This tool is focused on visibility and rankings in local search results. Use it to see how visible your business is in different locales and to see if your citations are being properly indexed. 4. Technical SEO Tools Mobile is the present and future of the web. Google went mobile-first on July 1st, 2019. Whether or not Google crawls your desktop or mobile version, the functionality, content, and schema mark-up should be the same across both in order to provide a congruent user experience and ensure that you don't get hit by a ranking decrease. Here are the tools the mobile-friendliness testing tools that we would recommend. Note that Google Chrome's DevTools are also capable of running mobile performance audits, which includes a site being mobile-friendly. So consider combining that with the options listed below. Website speed, in particular, is a clear and present ranking factor - users expect web pages to load quickly and will abandon pages that don't render in a timely fashion. Given that creating performant web pages is a multi-faceted task, it's only fitting that we have tools that help clarify what exactly needs to be done. The following are a mix of page speed testing tools and service providers wherein by implementing better practices you can improve your site's loading time. 4.1 Website speed optimization tools The Webmaster is a Google-sponsored open-source community that generates tools and tips for webmasters to improve their website. Among both the Page Speed and YSlow open-source products and related documentations, the site also has information to combat comment spam, a variety of plugins that can be used both on or off-site, and a robust sharing of resources geared to make the web friendly and easy. The SEO Toolbox is a third-party plugin that can be used on any website, which offers a variety of tools focusing on improving page rank. Its SEO Analysis Tool also gives you a variety of ways to improve page analysis with visual presentations, which can help with reports and presentations. After a comprehensive analysis, you are provided with techniques to improve website load time, such as a page reload timer to see improvements and a graph to illustrate loading time deficiencies. Web CEO Site Audit, Reports, and Tools – gives you a comprehensive report and tools to instantly improve the loading time of your website. With Web CEO, you get a dynamic suite of SEO, analytics, and social media tools; an extensive platform for keyword research, rank tracking, and link building; and a series of functional tools for on-site optimization. These tools give you valuable insight into what you need to improve your website's load time, and that improvement will reflect the increase in visitors and search engine rankings. Google Page Speed/YSlow – is a Firefox add-on integrated with the Firebug web development tool. It will grade your website based on performance and give you suggestions to increase it. Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live on any web page. The internet has changed a lot in the past decade, but one of the most important things to do is to make sure your website loads swiftly. It's easy if your website is a blog about yourself and your interests, but when it's a big site for a company or organization, it's really hard to keep up with. If you don't know how to maintain a quick load time, then Dyno Mapper is right for you, considering you can get everything else done except optimizing load times. Dyno Mapper's tools to improve website load time with Google Page Speed and integrate with your XML sitemap and Google Analytics. 4.2 Mobile-friendly testing tools Comparing real devices to emulated ones Mobile devices vary greatly in their web capabilities and their screen size. A mobile emulator will, in all cases, give you the ability to enter a URL, select a mobile device of your choice, and see the mobile version of a web page. Some emulators purport to offer the ability to browse to different pages, but this does not always work. Remember, emulators have limitations; there's a big difference between looking at a mobile page and actually viewing it on a device. But if you do not have access to pages that are not public, an emulator might be your only option. Mobile-friendly testing tools actually allow you to simulate different types of mobile devices. This is important to do because mobile devices are different - not all of them actually render the web in the same way. For example, the iPhone has full internet browsing capabilities and it does not render a web page the same as, say, an LG 450 text-only phone. Other types of mobile devices include PDAs and various smartphones like the Blackberry. Mobile-friendly testing tools are quite handy. They can help you find out how mobile search engine crawlers view your pages. Cell phones and text-only phones with small screens are two types of mobile devices. On-page SEO - Understanding Mobile Phones 4.3 XML sitemap generators * XML-sitemaps.com - This is the best free tool in our opinion. It will generate a sitemap of 500 pages for free and does a real good deep crawl of a website. Once the pages are indexed, you can revisit the site and generate another map of 500 pages to ensure all pages are listed correctly. This is not an automated process, so reminders will have to be set. * Web-site-map.com - This tool will crawl your website and generate an XML and also an HTML sitemap. It gives the option for 15 pages, 30 pages, and then a paid service. This is nice for really small websites of 8 to 10 pages. This tool also is not an automated process. * G-mapper.co.uk - This is a Windows application, so any website running off of a PC would use this. It generates an XML sitemap, but does require the page creator to regenerate the map if changes are made to the website. It has multi-configurable options and can save the scan results. * Sitemapgenerator.net - This is another free tool. It can create a 750 page sitemap. You can choose whether or not to include pages, page priority, and frequency for changes. * Siteindex.ru - Russian software to generate sitemaps. This program will only list the pages that it considers to be important. It is quite an extensive tool, but only free to a 100 page sitemap. XML sitemaps are very important for crawlability of a website. It is a way to tell search engines what pages it should index. Sitemap generators create the sitemaps and check for errors. Please make sure you check sitemap errors every time you create a new sitemap. It is important for correct indexation of your website pages. 4.4 Structured data testing tools This section provides a totally different off-page tool that every SEO specialist must know. Structured data plays a significant role in today's search engine results and structured data testing tools help you determine whether the structured data (micro-formats, micro-data or RDFa) has been implemented correctly on your web page. Rich snippets are the search result shown when Google finds any structured data on a web page. Rich snippets are very fruitful as websites with rich snippets have better click-through rates. Now the question arises how to display the data in the form of rich snippets? Google has the solution to it by marking up your web content with structured data in such a way that search engines can understand. But still, we are in dilemma that whether Google can identify the structured data effectively or not? Use structured data testing tools and remove this confusion by verifying the correctness and quality of structured data. Google rich snippet is another good tool to check which rich snippets your web page is eligible for. There are two most commonly used structured data testing tools. The first one is the all-in-one structured data testing tool. It is very simple and you can test microformats, microdata, and RDFa. It generates a result which is quite useful to diagnose your structured data. It consists of no ads. Another one is the rich snippet tool. This tool is available inside Google Webmaster Tools. It gives you a preview of how the rich snippet will appear in Google search results and to check the validity of the markup implementation. Any errors or warnings will lead to a link to the rich snippets general guidelines. Both the tools are the best way to enhance your web page visibility in search results. But remember rich snippets are generated based on how effectively you implement structured data on your web page. Another application of structured data testing tools is for event tracking. Events can be something about functions, workshops, seminars, concerts, etc., which will likely have a separate web page special for that event. In such cases, marking the event details with microdata can be much beneficial. You can implement rich snippets for that event. When that event is likely to happen then a small snippet in the search results will be displayed. This will help to attract more visitors to that event web page. So in this way structured data testing tools can determine whether the event details structured data is implemented correctly. This is because even a small error in implementing the structured data might prevent the rich snippet being displayed..
You can add more paragraphs, images, or any other content you want for your post.
